After cutting the cake welcoming Bahrain Air to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, the airport’s CCO Server Aydın exchanged gifts with Bahrain Air’s Managing Director Ibrahim Al Hamer. A press conference was then held by Aydın, the airport’s CEO Gökhan Buğday, Bahrain Air’s Director Commercial Operations Richard Nuttall and Ferzan Ünlüsoy, GM at Airep, Bahrain Air’s Turkish GSA.
- Bahrain Air on 1 July launched its first European destination as the airline connected its Bahrain (BAH) base with Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW). Flights operate four times weekly on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays with 156-seat A320 aircraft. Indirect competition at Istanbul Atatürk comes from Turkish Airlines’ daily service and Gulf Air’s five flights a week. Ibrahim Al Hamer, Bahrain Air’s Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to launch flights from Bahrain to Istanbul, where we have received such a warm welcome. Not only will the route provide a boost to tourism in Bahrain and Turkey, but it will also support the growing commercial ties between the two countries. We anticipate this route will enhance the existing passenger and cargo load capacity between the two countries and boost bilateral trade.”
