Gulf Air’s COO Nasser AlSalmi cut the ribbon held by Chief Services Officer Marcus Bernhardt, inaugurating the airline’s new route to Nairobi – its eighth new service launched this year.
- Gulf Air on 5 July relaunched flights between its Bahrain (BAH) hub and Nairobi (NBO), the capital of Kenya. The airline previously operated the 3,400-kilometre route in 2002-2003. Flights now operate four times weekly with 136-seat A320 aircraft. This is Gulf Air’s fifth African destination after Alexandria, Cairo, Khartoum and Addis Ababa. Gulf Air’s Chief Services Officer Marcus Bernhardt commented: “By re-connecting Nairobi with Bahrain we are re-opening a huge commercial and tourism opportunity for entrepreneurs and businessmen from both markets. We are confident this new route will be a success for both our passenger and cargo operations, and we look forward to facilitating business and leisure traffic between the two countries and beyond.”
