Tiger makes Davao third destination in the Philippines
Tiger Airways has launched its second new route to the Philippines in the space of two months, having served Manila for several years. In early September, the Singapore (SIN) based LCC began flying to Cebu and last week, it also began operating three weekly flights to Davao (DVO) using 180-seat A320s. The airport is the busiest on the island of Mindanao and Singapore is its only international service, currently served by Silk Air with two weekly flights. According to Philippine CAA statistics, the airline last year carried 21,009 passengers on the route. Tiger’s new service will more than double international capacity at the airport, which last year handled around 2.2 million passengers, of which just over 50% flew on Cebu Pacific flights.
