Cypriot dancers celebrated the relaunch of flights between London Stansted to Larnaca with Stansted Airport’s Commercial Director Jonathan Crick; Alexandros Zenon, Cypriot High Commissioner to the UK; Stansted Airport’s Managing Director Nick Barton; Andreas Agathou, GM Cyprus Airways; and the Director of the Cyprus Tourist Board, Orestis Rossides.
- Cyprus Airways relaunched flights to its second London airport on 19 December when the airline began operating twice-weekly from Larnaca (LCA) to London Stansted (STN). The airline already flies 16 times weekly to London Heathrow. Cyprus Airways also operated to Stansted between 1997 and last year, when the route was dropped. Although the airline is the only carrier operating between Larnaca and Stansted, indirect competition comes from British Airways and Aegean Airlines at Heathrow, easyJet at Gatwick and Monarch at Luton. In summer, the Stansted route is also operated by Thomson Airways.
