Among the first passengers to disembark Air Astana’s first flight to Kazan in Russia were Airat Hasanov, authorized representative of the Republic of Tatartsan in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Ibrahim Canliel, Air Astana’s VP sales and marketing. Canliel then exchanged gifts with Iskander Muflikhanov, director of the Tatarstan Presidential Department of Foreign Affairs and aide to the president on international issues.
- Air Astana expanded its network to Russia on 2 June when the Kazakh airline connected its main hub at Almaty (ALA) with Kazan (KZN) in Russia’s Tatarstan region. The 2,400-kilometre route is operated three times weekly with 97-seat E-190 aircraft. This is Air Astana’s sixth destination in Russia after Moscow Sheremetyevo, Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg, St Petersburg and Samara.
