Southwest launches two new routes

  • Sunday 3 June saw the launch of two new daily routes by Southwest. Chicago Midway, IL (MDW) is now connected to Oklahoma City, OK (OKC), while Houston Hobby, TX (HOU) now has daily flights to Seattle, WA (SEA). Indirect competition is provided between Chicago O’Hare and Oklahoma City by American and United, each with five daily flights, while Houston Bush and Seattle-Tacoma are currently served by Alaska Airlines (daily flights) and United Airlines (with seven daily flights). Southwest recently learned that Houston City Council had voted in favour of allowing expansion of Houston Hobby Airport by the airline, which plans to develop a five-gate international facility for international operations.
