Volotea’s new route from Palermo marks the arrival of a new airline in Trieste by Italy’s border to Slovenia. Celebrating the new route together with the crew were Andrea Sarto, Trieste Airport’s Operations Director and Commercial Executive; Salvatore Colella, President of the Sicilian Community living in the area; and Valeria Rebasti, Volotea’s Commercial Executive for Italy.
- Fast-growing new Barcelona-based LCC Volotea has launched 10 new routes during the seven day period examined using its 717s. There are five French domestic routes (four of them between the French mainland and the island of Corsica), two Italian domestic routes, plus a route each between France and the Czech Republic, France and Spain, and Italy and Greece. The main beneficiary is Nantes (NTE) which gets five new services and 11 new weekly flights, followed by Ajaccio (AJA) in Corsica which gets two new routes and six new weekly flights. Bastia (BIA), Bordeaux (BOD), and Palermo (PMO) also all get two new routes. Direct competition is provided on just two of the 10 new routes.
