Dan Garton, President of American Eagle Airlines (to right of eagle) joins AA and Eagle Headquarters staff who were instrumental in getting the new cake prize-winning Chicago O’Hare-Kitchener/Waterloo (Ontario) service up and running.
If you recall, we could not make up our mind which cake should win the anna.aero Cake of the Week prize last time, so we decided to put it to one of our public votes. We received 1,591 votes with American Eagle crushing all opposition with its 71% polling, possibly because of organising system-wide American Airlines backing, supported by a Region of Waterloo International Airport Twitter campaign (both are permitted tactics).
The final polling results are presented below:
Air One’s Venice to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen – 7%
American Eagle’s Chicago O’Hare to Kitchener – 71%
Scoot’s Singapore to Gold Coast – 5%
Wizz Air’s Budapest to Milan Malpensa – 17%
Commenting on the victory, American Airlines’ Brett Hooyerink, Senior Manager Market Development, told anna.aero: “We are honoured to have won Cake of the Week, as fun and spirited as the competition may be, we all realize the immeasurable publicity this brings our new route.”

The cake that won 77% of the vote. Full analysis of the American Eagle route launch can be viewed here.

The cake looks like a hat. I’d wear it! Well done.
Hey, I was misquoted! I said, “We are honored” not “We are honoured”…
Kudos on your new routes to our competition! May they all go widebody!
I must say that Wizz Air’s BUD-MXP cake certainly looked like it was the most delicious.
