Celebrating the return of scheduled services to Vitoria were the city’s Mayor, Javier Maroto; Helitt’s CEO, Abel Moreno; and the region’s Deputy General, Javier de Andrés. Commenting on the recent reduction in operating hours (12 hours a day from 24/7) at the Basque airport by its operator Aena, Moreno said: “This is the moment to show the world that Vitoria Airport is rentable, which should create pressure on AENA to reverse its decision.”
- Helitt Líneas Aéreas launched services on the route from Barcelona (BCN) to Vitoria (VIT), the second-largest Basque city located in the north of Spain. Six weekly flights will be operated with the airline’s ATR 72 aircraft until the end of winter season. While the route to Barcelona was last operated in July 2009 by Iberia, Vitoria saw its last year-round scheduled service – Iberia’s flight to Madrid – depart in February 2011.
