At Naha Airport on Okinawa, the ribbon was cut for Jetstar Japan’s new route from Osaka Kansai. The airline is the second low-cost carrier to launch this route in a matter of weeks.
- Jetstar Japan began operating the domestic route between Osaka Kansai (KIX) and Okinawa (OKA) in the south of the country on 28 October. The low-cost carrier will operate the route daily with its 180-seat A320s, increasing to twice-daily operations in December. Jetstar Japan just follows its main competitor Peach, which began operating the route a week earlier with twice-daily frequencies. Further competition comes from ANA’s four daily operations, each three daily flights on Japan Transocean Air and Skymark, as well as JAL’s two flights a week.
