Ex-Birmingham Airport route development boss becomes anna.aero Editor
anna.aero, the world’s first and best electronic news and analysis service entirely devoted to airline network planning intelligence, has appointed Marc Watkins to be its new Editor, taking control from Ralph Anker who left at the end of October to join ASM as Vice President Consulting.
Watkins (39) brings vast route development experience to the portal, stemming from a decade at Birmingham International Airport where, as Business Development Manager, he led a team which successfully brought new services from from Air India, Emirates, US Airways, Continental Airlines, Turkish Airlines and a raft of other European low cost and main line carriers.
“Watkins holds a formidable suite of analytical skills – including an MSc in Air Transport Management from Cranfield University – and his CEO-level airline contacts are immaculate,” says anna.aero Publisher Paul Hogan. “While we are sad to be losing Ralph, we are flattered that he moves to a senior appointment with ASM, and I salute his immense contribution to both route development and electronic publishing. With over 300 airports now actively advertising on anna.aero, it’s time to go to the next level by channelling Watkins’ vast hands-on industry experience and reputation into anna.aero Version 3.0, which is due for a roll-out in New Year 2013.”
ex-Ryanair Mairead Dooley-Byrne joins as Associate Editor
Meanwhile, the anna.aero team is being expanded and strengthened with the appointment of Mairead Dooley-Byrne as Associate Editor, until recently Commercial Development Manager at Ryanair.
“Mairead worked at the heart of the world’s most revolutionary airline – so this is another superstar signing,” said Hogan, commenting on this additional development. “Besides her amazing route planning expertise, she also brings to us a massive injection of business relations forged with literally hundreds of airports.”
