Jet Airways breaks Air India Express' monopoly on the route from Mangalore to Dubai

Gaurang Shetty, Jet Airways’ SVP Commercial, addressed guests gathered at the press conference in Mangalore to mark the launch of the airline’s new service to Dubai.

Celebrating the arrival of Jet Airways’ third route from India to Dubai with a cake were the airline’s and airport’s officials. First passenger on the return flight had the privilege of cutting the inaugural ribbon. Saleem Golandaz, Dnata’s Customer Services Manager; and the Jet Airways Airport and sales teams including Bram Steller, EVP International Sales; Shakir Kantawala, GM Gulf, Middle East and North Africa; Rohan Alva, Cargo Manager Gulf; and Sanjay Lobato, DM, were present.

  • Jet Airways launched its third (after Delhi and Mumbai) service to Dubai (DXB) on 3 January. The second largest Indian airline at present, Jet Airways now operates six-weekly flights from Mangalore (IXE) to the Middle-Eastern mega hub. The service between western’ India’s largest port city and Dubai is operated with 156-seat 737-800. Competition on the route comes from Air India Express, which has previously held a monopoly in this market since March 2007 and currently operates twice-daily frequencies on the same route.
