PIA’s MD, Muhammad Junaid, cut the celebratory ribbon for the launch of the airline’s inaugural service from Quetta to Kandahar in Afghanistan. The launch date coincided with the 137th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam, the founder of Pakistan.
- Pakistan International Airlines inaugurated twice-weekly flights from Quetta (UET) on the western edge of Pakistan and to the second largest city in Afghanistan, Kandahar (KDH), on 25 December. Catering to two important trade centres in the neighbouring countries, the 170-kilometre route is now operated twice-weekly with the airline’s ATR-42 configured for 48 passengers. The Pakistani flag carrier operates to a total of nine destinations from Quetta, which makes it the largest operator at this airport.
