SpiceJet launches the first low-cost service from India to China

SpiceJet’s Delhi to Guangzhou

The official ceremony for the launch of the first ever low-cost service from India to China was celebrated in Delhi by SpiceJet’s MD, S. Natrajhen; and CEO, Neil Mills.

  • SpiceJet became the first low-cost airline to offer flights between India and China on 8 February, when it commenced four-weekly flights on 3,700-killometre route from Delhi (DEL) to Guangzhou (CAN). Flights from the Indian capital to the southern Chinese trade hub are served using 737-800 in competition with China Southern Airlines’ 757-operated 10-weekly frequencies. Following last month’s launch of flights to Riyadh and Dubai, respectively from Delhi and Ahmedabad, SpiceJet now operates 11 routes to seven international destinations from six airports across India.
