SeaPort Airlines connects San Diego and El Centro/Imperial County

  • SeaPort Airlines inaugurated services on the 150-kilometre intrastate route from San Diego, CA (SAN) to El Centro/Imperial County, CA (IPL) on 1 March. The new service is launched within the US Department of Transportation Essential Air Service scheme, and enjoys 29 weekly frequencies operated with 10-seater Cessna turboprops. SeaPort Airlines’ CEO, Rob McKinney, said “We’re very pleased to be adding Imperial County Airport and San Diego International to our growing route map. We expect that customers in both communities will embrace the high frequency and customer friendly service that has been a pillar of the ‘SeaPort Experience’ since our very first flight.”

After years of low passenger loads, I am pleased to see a change of airline service out of the Imperial County Airport located in the city of Imperial, California. The new airline, Seaport, is willing to promote the service, something that is a must at Imperial where most people that live or do business here do not know we have an airport, let alone airline service.(We have had airline service at Imperial(IPL) since 1939) I understand that the service will now start on May 1, 2013 and that nonstops to Burbank, as well as San Diego, have been added. GODSPEED to you SEAPORT AIRLINES!! May God speed you to a wonderful future at Imperial.
