Wizz Air switches Glasgow airports

  • Wizz Air moved its Glasgow operation from Glasgow Prestwick (PIK) to Glasgow (GLA) last week. Beginning on 1 and 3 March respectively, the airline’s Warsaw (WAW) and Gdańsk (GDN) services changed airport with unchanged frequencies – twice-weekly from the Polish capital and weekly from Gdańsk. Ryanair provides indirect competition on the route from Warsaw, which it serves with thrice-weekly flights.

Wizz might be confused with the fact that it’s PIK’s pax were headed for Glasgow City. Not surprising given there is very little public transport at PIK to anywhere else. One would have thought they might have realised that Glasgow City was just a stepping stone to elsewhere in Scotland. Most pax to Scotland invariably finish-up on Scotland’s east coast, will Wizz finally end-up at Edinburgh Airport?
