AirTran Airways launches four domestic routes between seven airports
- AirTran Airways, a US low-cost carrier and subsidiary of Southwest Airlines launched four new domestic services on 29 September. The two routes from Orlando, FL (MCO) both “compete” with Southwest Airlines, although the two carriers are currently being integrated. The Fort Myers, FL (RSW) to Columbus, OH (CMH) route is operated by AirTran until 6 January, when Southwest takes over the route. Similarly, the Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL) to Pittsburgh, PA (PIT) service is handed over from 3 November.
