Transaero Airlines began flights between Moscow Vnukovo (VKO) and Dubai (DXB) on 20 September. The six times weekly operation will be flown by a combination of the carrier’s 767-300 and 737-800 equipment. While there is no direct competition on this particular route, there are numerous competitors in the indirect market, with Emirates operating double-daily into Moscow Domodedovo, as well as a twice-weekly SriLankan Airlines service. Aeroflot is also a competitor, with its own double-daily operation (up from daily, also commencing 20 September) into Dubai from its Moscow Sheremetyevo hub. There are also numerous Russian charter flights which operate between the two cities.
