Outside, the delegates got a taste of what to expect from traditional London weather as they cut the ribbon in Košice ahead of the inauguration.
- Wizz Air, the Hungarian LCC, commenced four new routes during the last two weeks. Amongst the large number of network additions connecting seven cities across six countries, is a 1,540-kilometre route between its Hungarian base and headquarters location in Budapest (BUD) and Moscow Vnukovo (VKO). The route is being launched, to one of three major airports serving the Russian capital, with four weekly rotations, soon increasing to five from 3 October. Wizz Air faces indirect competition from Aeroflot, which serves the city pair with 14 weekly frequencies, but serves Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport.

Patrick Bohl, Head of Airline Development at Budapest, presented the crew with a special route launch cake to celebrate Wizz Air’s inauguration linking Budapest in Hungary, with Moscow Vnukovo, Russia. Hungarian music was played using an accordion to welcome the passengers on board one of Wizz Air’s A320s. Initially, the carrier is offering the route four times weekly, soon increasing to five weekly from 3 October. Wizz Air faces indirect competition from Aeroflot which serves Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport, 50 times weekly.
Handing out cakes at Chisinau Airport in Moldova was; Daniel De Carvalho, Corportate Communications Coordinator for Wizz Air; Enrico Nunziata, The Italian Ambassador to Moldova; and Iurie Leancă the Prime Minister of Moldova. Commenting on the two new connections, the Moldovan PM said: “In a record period of three months, the Government has made it possible to negotiate the Common Aviation Area Agreement with the EU. People of Moldova can now enjoy the first results of this agreement”.
