Flying in competition with Air New Zealand’s daily service, Jetstar Airways kicked-off its own services between Adelaide and Auckland on 16 December. Find out how Adelaide Airport’s FTWA got on in the last Arch of Triumph of 2013.
- Jetstar Airways, the Qantas off-shoot, launched low-cost services between Adelaide (ADL) and Auckland (AKL), using its ubiquitous 180-seat A320s on the 3,259-kilometre sector. The thrice-weekly operation, which began on 16 December, will face legacy carrier competition in the form of Air New Zealand, with its own daily flights. Two days earlier on 14 December, Jetstar also commenced A330-200 services between Melbourne (MEL) and Phuket (HKT). The twice-weekly operation, flown on Saturdays and Sundays, will face no direct competition.
