BQB Airlines grows its presence in Brazil with two routes from Montevideo

BQB Airlines’ new service from Montevideo was greeted on its arrival in Sao Paulo Guarulhos with the traditional water arch salute on 26 December. Find out how Sao Paulo Guarulhos Airport got on in the first Arch of Triumph of 2014.

  • BQB Airlines, which in the previous month commenced three routes from its main base, expanded its presence in Brazil with two more links from Montevideo (MVD). On 26 December it began six weekly flights (except on Saturdays) on the 1,568-kilometre route to Sao Paulo Guarulhos (GRU), utilising its 151-seat A320s; followed on 5 January by five weekly services on the 1,823-kilometre sector to Rio De Janeiro (GIG), which is served by a mixed fleet of 68-seat ATR 72s and 151-seat A320s. No other carrier serves this airport-pair, while the route to Sao Paulo Guarulhos faces extensive competition from GOL’s 10 weekly flights and TAM Airlines’ twice-daily services.
