Volaris swops Chicago Midway for Chicago O’Hare from Mexico City
Volaris has moved its service from Mexico City (MEX) to the city of Chicago from Chicago Midway Airport to Chicago O’Hare, IL (ORD). Daily flights commenced on 17 December using the airline’s A320-series aircraft. The 2,710-kilometre route is already well-served by Aeromexico (thrice-daily flights), American Airlines and United Airlines (both daily flights). Volaris serves seven US destinations from Mexico City, the others being Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando, Phoenix and San Diego, all of which have been launched since July 2011. Although these are Volaris’ first flights to Chicago O’Hare, the airline has been serving Chicago Midway since December 2010 and currently offers flights to Guadalajara (daily), Guanajuato (twice-weekly), Morelia (four weekly flights) and Zacatecas (thrice-weekly flights).
