JetBlue Airways makes Detroit its 52nd destination from Boston
JetBlue Airways added its 52nd destination from its Boston, MA (BOS) base, with the addition of new services to Detroit, MI (DTW) on 10 March. The 1,017-kilometre sector to Detroit will be operated thrice-daily, utilising the carrier's 100-seat E190s. The airline's new route will face direct competition from Delta Air Lines' 52 flights. Commenting on the route launch, Dave Barger, CEO, JetBlue Airways, said: "Today we strengthen our offering from Boston, while also bringing our low fares and award-winning service to Detroit and one of the most overpriced markets in the US. Detroit is also home to the largest Arab community in America and we are excited that our code-share partner Emirates today launches its Boston-Dubai service, which will provide our customers with seamless connections to and from Detroit. This route will also connect well with Turkish Airlines, when their Boston-Istanbul service begins on May 12."
