airBaltic adds Aberdeen to its Riga offering
Riga Airport celebrated the launch of airBaltic’s four weekly flights to Aberdeen on 30 March with a fantastic cake, served to passengers on the inaugural flight.
The celebrations continued at the Scottish airport with another special cake ceremony, marked by (left to right): Inese Moiseja, Cabin Crew, airBaltic; Carol Benzie, MD, Aberdeen Airport; and Irina Ohota, Cabin Crew, airBaltic.

- airBaltic, the flag carrier of Latvia, commenced another European service, from Riga (RIX) to Aberdeen(ABZ) on 30 March. The 1,580-kilometre sector to the third largest city of Scotland will be operated four times weekly, utilising the carrier’s 120-seat 737-500s. There is no competition on this airport pair. Commenting on the route launch, Aldis Mūrnieks, Chairman of the Board, Riga Airport, said: “We are gratified that the national airline keeps offering flights to new destinations. I am convinced that the new route will provide additional possibilities to the enterprises of both countries, as well as promoting tourism development by allowing travellers to get acquainted with the exciting nature and history of Latvia and Riga, as well as Scotland.”
