REX – Regional Express made Armidale its 17th destination from Sydney when it launched 18 weekly Saab 340 flights on 28 March, competing with Qantas’ 31 weekly flights.
- REX – Regional Express added its 17th route from Sydney (SYD) with the addition of 18 weekly flights to Armidale (ARM) on 28 March. The 381-kilometre sector to the administrative centre for the Northern Tablelands region will be operated utilising the airline’s 34-seat Saab 340s and will face direct competition from Qantas’ 31 weekly operations. Commenting on the route launch, John Sharp, Deputy Chairman, REX, said: “As Australia’s most on-time regional airline we are delighted to be bringing to Armidale a reliable and competitive air service that the entire New England region can count on. Rex looks forward to building a strong partnership with the Armidale community to ensure we can continue to provide a sustainable air service for the long-term benefit of the Armidale region.”
