  • Norwegian started eight new routes from three different bases over three days in early April, the majority of which face some level of competition. Of those new routes, the most competitive city pair is between London Gatwick (LGW) and Larnaca (LCA), which will see the LCC take on five incumbent airlines. Norwegian will also face some significant indirect competition on some of the city pairs — airberlin (daily), Lufthansa (daily) and Vueling (eight times weekly) all operate from Berlin Tegel to Barcelona (BCN), in competition with its new link to the Spanish city from Berlin Schönefeld (SXF). While there is no direct competition from Barcelona to Oslo Torp (TRF), Norwegian itself flies from Oslo Gardermoen to Barcelona (11 times weekly), SAS (six times weekly), while Vueling will re-start its own seasonal thrice-weekly operation on 11 April. In addition, Ryanair flies from Barcelona to Oslo Rygge (five times weekly). The eight routes started in the last week are summarised below.
