CONNECT Marrakech now has 45 airlines; 150 airports

CONNECT Marrakech 3-6 June

Just how much more can we take of this treatment? The Palais de Congrès, Palmeraie Resorts, Marrakech, Morocco, the arduous location of CONNECT 2014, 3-6 June. Expect to discuss your airport’s catchment area and origin and destination in temperatures exceeding 40C.

Hosted by the Moroccan Airport Authority (they run 25 airports), the Morocco transport and tourism ministries, and “under the high Patronage of his Majesty the King Mohammed VI”, this is the 11th CONNECT (the event formally known as FRENCH CONNECT) and the first foray outside of the European continent (although even when it was “French” it was previously staged in the UK and Ireland).

Some 45 airlines are taking part at CEO and CCO level (see table below) along with 150 airports ranging from LAX, several African cities (not forgetting the 25 Moroccan airports), and the usual solid contingent from France.

anna.aero Keynote Speech

Once again anna.aero’s very own Chief Analyst, Ralph Anker, will deliver the Keynote Speech with his defining analysis: “Setting the scene: The European & North African aviation market.” Anker will also be interviewing Ryanair’s Michael Cawley on stage and, just when he thinks he’ll have time for a swim, Anker will then be working on producing editions of the much-loved anna.aero on-site printed publications (in “Arrivals” and “Departures” formats) with all the nice pictures of the event that everyone loves us for (oh yes, and a full report of the proceedings of the conference “Looking to the Future Challenges of Aviation and Tourism).

CONNECT also features an expanded “Airline and Industry Briefing Programme”, based around a series of intimate lounges. Companies participating this year include Flybe, Ryanair and easyJet. Royal Air Maroc is the Official Carrier, while transavia.com is the Official Press Carrier. To find out what all this means and to register go to www.connect-aviation.com.

Comments

  1. Last time I visited Marrakech last year, there was only one airport Menara, but i take your point that Marrakech is being served by many low cost airlines and that in turn is allowing many Europeans to make Morocco their holiday destination.

However Marrakech is not geared up to receive tourists with varied needs and a friendly place for many of the families with young kids, as anyone who as been to Marrakech will attest that the kerbs are high for wheel-chairs and prams as well the chaotic driving. Maybe something for the Marrakech Tourism Board to look into, but first they need to have their office open at least during the business hours.
