On Tuesday 3 June Air Moldova began weekly flights from Chisinau to Barcelona using one of its Embraer E190s. A strawberry-rich cake, speeches and balloons were all part of the celebrations for the new route, which is not served by any other carrier.
- Air Moldova has added two new destinations to its network during the last week. On 3 June the airline began weekly (Tuesday) flights on the 2,230-kilometre route between Chisinau (KIV) and Barcelona (BCN), while on 7 June it began weekly (Saturday) fights on the 3,390-kilometre route to Nizhnevartovsk (NJC) in Russia. Both routes will be operated by the airline’s Embraer E190s and neither faces any direct competition. This brings to 21 the number of destinations served non-stop by Air Moldova from Chisinau, having also launched new services to Athens and Lisbon at the start of the summer season. However, compared with last summer, routes to Antalya and Madrid have been suspended.
