Speaking at a Glad Dinner in Delhi this week, Ghaith Al Ghaith, flydubai CEO was keen to highlight the importance of the Indian market for the carrier – in terms of number of points served (six), it is now the airline’s #3 market.
- flydubai has added another Indian destination to its network on 3 June, with the commencement of thrice-weekly operations from its Dubai (DXB) hub to Thiruvananthapuram (TRV). The route will face some tough competition, predominantly from Emirates, which operates the city pair 12 times weekly, with IndiGo (daily) and Air India Express (four times weekly) being the alternate incumbents. The 2,945-kilometre sector will be operated by the airline’s 174-seat 737-800s. Commenting at the start of his recent trip to India, Ghaith Al Ghaith, flydubai CEO, said: “We are thankful to the Indian authorities for providing us with the opportunity to deliver more options to passengers who are looking to travel between India and the UAE. The interest in this delegation reflects the increasing levels of investment, trade and tourism between the two business-friendly countries and the flydubai network highlighting the importance of improving connectivity. We look forward to working closely with the authorities going forward.” For more on flydubai see this week’s airline profile.
