Qatar Airways makes it to Miami
- Qatar Airways commenced its sixth US destination on 10 June, with Miami (MIA) joining the airline’s existing services to New York JFK, Chicago O’Hare, Houston Intercontinental, Washington Dulles and Philadelphia from its Doha (DOH) hub. In starting the four times weekly, 777-200LR-operated sector, it becomes the first of the MEB3 airlines (the airline grouping which includes Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways) to offer the Florida airport — despite anna.aero’s assertions that Emirates would be the first MEB3 to serve Miami. On this basis, there is currently no direct or indirect competition on the route offering. See how this FTWA compares to the others sent in this week from around the world.
