Riga Airport celebrated with a cake ceremony the inaugural flight of airBaltic’s new seasonal route to Varna in Bulgaria on 24 June. - airBaltic, the flag carrier of Latvia, expanded its seasonal offering with the launch of services from its Riga (RIX) base to Varna (VAR) in Bulgaria on 24 June. The 1,556-kilometre sector to the largest city and seaside resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast will be operated twice-weekly (Tuesdays and Fridays) until 5 September, utilising the carrier’s 76-seat Q400s. No other carrier serves this airport pair. The Latvian flag carrier is also serving the Bulgarian market with twice-weekly flights to Bourgas as of 28 May.
