Vladimir Varavva, Head of Rescue and Firefighting Services, Samara Airport presented the airport’s Arch of Triumph certificate, awarded for the close to perfection water arch that welcomed Finnair’s service from Helsinki on 7 August.
On 21 August, Tallinn Airport welcomed with the traditional water arch salute the arrival of Japan Airlines’ first charter service of its kind to bring Japanese tourists straight from Osaka Kansai. Commenting on the arrival, Erik Sakkov, Member of the Management Board, Tallinn, said: “We are delighted that our Japanese friends have found their way to Estonia at last. I very much hope that this first charter flight is the beginning of bigger things to come.”
On 21 August, Ryanair celebrated five million passengers at Kaunas Airport in Lithuania. The lucky passenger was Jūratė Kriščiūnaitė (centre), who was travelling to Dublin. Celebrating with Jūratė are Ryanair’s: Elina Hakkarainen, Sales and Marketing Manager Nordics and Baltics; and Neringa Öhrström, Sales and Marketing Executive Scandinavia and Baltics.
On 16 August, Southwest Airlines landed again at Cancun Airport, this time from Milwaukee. The LCC’s new airport pair is operated weekly (Saturdays), using its 737-700s. Southwest is also flying to the Mexican city with nine weekly services from Baltimore/Washington and eight weekly operations from Atlanta as of 10 August.
