Jointly cutting the ribbon to inaugurate services from Eindhoven to Munich are: Joost Meijs, CEO Eindhoven Airport; Wim van der Leegte, President VDL Groep; Rob Gijzel, Mayor of Eindhoven; and Mattijs ten Brink, CEO Transavia. Eindhoven Airport also celebrated services by handing out free Bratwursts to all passengers, with real ‘Dirndl’ girls from Bavaria undertaking the honours.
- Transavia commenced two services from Eindhoven on 19 February to Munich (MUC) and Prague (PRG). Services on the 573-kilometre link to the German gateway will operate 11 times weekly, while flights on the 641-kilometre connection to the Czech Republic capital will be flown six times weekly. According to the airline’s booking engine, the next route that it will launch from Eindhoven is to Tenerife South on 1 April. On 21 February, the carrier introduced services on a third new route from Paris Orly (ORY) to Verona (VRN). The 742-kilometre sector will be flown thrice-weekly (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays). All three sectors will be flown by the LCC’s 737-700 fleet, with no incumbents operating on any of the new routes.
