Iasi celebrated the start of TAROM’s service to Madrid on 25 June with a three-tiered Flamenco-themed cake. Posing with the culinary delight are: Marius Bodea, President of Iasi Airport; Costin Ciotec, CCO, TAROM; Georgeta Dinu, Head of Corporate Communications, TAROM; and Paul Butnariu, President of Iasi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. As well as cake, the airport hosted a Flamenco styled celebration accompanied by live music.
- TAROM launched flights between Iasi (IAS) and Madrid (MAD) on 25 June. The 2,588-kilometre sector will be served by the SkyTeam member twice-weekly (Wednesdays and Saturdays) on its 737-300 fleet. The route faces no direct competition. Iasi becomes the second connection for the Romanian flag-carrier from the Spanish capital, with it also linking Madrid to Bucharest with a nine times weekly service according to OAG Schedules Analyser data (twice-daily on Fridays and Sundays). Madrid becomes the eighth connection for TAROM from Iasi, with it also serving Bologna, Bucharest, London Luton, Munich, Rome Fiumicino, Tel Aviv and Turin.
