Eastar Jet starts first service to Vietnam

  • Eastar Jet appears not be afraid of competition as it has become the seventh carrier to operate daily flights between Seoul Incheon (ICN) and Hanoi (HAN) in Vietnam. The airport pair is already flown twice-daily by Asiana Airlines, Korean Air and Vietnam Airlines, and daily by Jeju Air, Jin Air and VietJetAir. Eastar Jet started operations on the 2,683-kilometre route on 1 November using its fleet of 13 737-800s. It has acquired four of the type during 2016 all of which were formerly operated by airberlin. In addition its fleet comprises three 737-700s. This brings to 12 the number of destinations served by the LCC from Seoul Incheon. According to OAG data, Eastar Jet is the seventh busiest carrier at the airport, operating 100 weekly departures giving it just under 3% of the airport’s seat capacity, well behind Korean Air (29%) and Asiana Airlines (21%).
