Ellinair inaugurated flights to Cluj-Napoca on 15 June, with the airport baking a splendid cake to mark the arrival of its latest carrier. Facing no direct competition, the airport pairing will be flown by the airline on its fleet of 96-seat Avro RJ85s. Cluj-Napoca becomes Ellinair’s second destination in Romania from Thessaloniki after Bucharest. Overall this summer Ellinair is operating 74 weekly flights from Thessaloniki to 35 destinations according to OAG schedules, with the leading route being the domestic connection to Athens which occupies 13% of the airline’s weekly seat capacity from Greece’s second city.
