- SkyWork Airlines on 4 September began a five times weekly service between Basel (BSL) and Vienna (VIE). The carrier will operate the 676-kilometre route on its fleet of Saab 2000s of which it currently has three. “In addition to Berne, SkyWork Airlines now serves a second destination from Vienna. Thanks to its contemporary architecture and multifaceted culture, Basel, Switzerland’s third largest city, is especially popular for city breaks,” said Julian Jäger, Member of the Management Board of Vienna Airport. “The additional destination confirms our good cooperation with the airline, and the importance of flight connections between Austria and Switzerland. On balance, Vienna Airport now offers five destinations and 152 weekly flight connections to Switzerland,” Jäger adds. When referring to OAG schedules, the city pairing of Basel and Vienna is already served, with Austrian Airlines connecting the two cities 12 times weekly on its Q400s. Along with Basel and Berne, Vienna also has regular connections to Altenrhein, Geneva and Zurich in Switzerland.
