Passengers on the return flight of Air Cairo’s new link between Sharm El Sheikh and Naples were greeted with roses as they passed through arrivals at the Egyptian airport on 26 January. According to various local media reports, some 172 passengers landed from the Italian city, representing a healthy load factor of 97%.
- Air Cairo commenced flights between Sharm El Sheikh (SSH) and Naples (NAP) on 26 January, with the link becoming the airline’s second year-round route to Italy from the Egyptian airport after Milan Malpensa, with Rome Fiumicino also being served during the summer. Initially being flown weekly (Fridays) on A320s, the frequency of the 2,325-kilometre route will increase to three times weekly for the summer, with a Monday and Wednesday rotation also being added according to OAG schedules. No competition is provided on the city pair.
