Budapest Airport-anna.aero Runway Run 4.0 sponsored by Airbus: “The Race to Find the Fastest Airline in the World”, Budapest Airport Runway 13R-31L, 3 September 2016
The organisers of the air transport industry’s premier charity-sportive event – “The Race to Find the Fastest Airline in the World” – have announced that this year’s run will take place at 11.00 on Saturday 3 September 2016 on Budapest Airport’s 13R-31L. Runners from airlines, airports and enterprises across the aviation community will once again compete for a series of anna.aero-Budapest Airport "Golden Cake Trophies" including the key team prize of the “The Fastest Airline in the World.” After the prize-giving the race is followed by a superb barbecue on the terrace of Budapest Airport’s historic former Terminal 1 overlooking the re-opened runway.
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is officially “The Fastest Airline in the World”
SWISS is the airline to beat after it soared to triumph last year, knocking reigning champions, Aer Lingus, off the podium and crossing the line ahead of all other 920 competitors.
Continuing its support of this year’s Budapest Airport-anna.aero Runway Run 4.0, Airbus has confirmed it will once again be main title sponsor of the event, comprising two race distances – 10km (four runway lengths) and 5km (a distance favoured by sofa-loving revenue management executives). “Airbus is extremely proud to be the main sponsor and support the benefiting good causes of this leading sports charity event,” stated Chris Buckley – EVP Sales Europe, Airbus, who personally led a 12-strong team of enthusiastic runners down Budapest’s runway last year. Qatar Airways will be this year’s airline sponsor alongside Airbus, from which it has some 130 units on order. The sponsorship move follows Qatar’s intensifying interest at Budapest Airport where it recently raised frequencies from daily top 10-times- weekly.
