Enter the race to find the "fastest airline in the world" on Budapest Airport's runway (and the fastest airport, fastest travel retail company etc)
The world's next great, must-be-at aviation event isn't a conference or exhibition – it's a running race which will take place on an active runway at Budapest Airport on Saturday 6 September in aid of child cancer charities and other good causes.
"bud:runway run," which has been organised by a multi-talented coalition consisting of host Budapest Airport, Nike, Wizz Air and anna.aero, is looking for leaders from airlines, airports and enterprises across the aviation community to compete for a series of anna.aero-Budapest Airport "Golden Cake Trophies" including the key team prize of the "The Fastest Airline in the World" and the top individual categories of Fastest Airline CEO and Fastest Airport CEO (with separate prizes for male and female winners).
The race follows a successful pilot event staged on Runway 13R-31L last September. First and foremost it is a charity event. However, as most airlines and airports already have major charity commitments, there's no need for participants to raise big cash sponsorship targets – competitors just have to pay an entrance fee (€75 for individuals or €50 per runner for team entries) with 100% of this sum donated to the benefiting charities.
Besides the "Golden Cake Trophies," Platinum Sponsor and Official Carrier Wizz Air will also be awarding tickets and Wizz Tour prizes to the key winning categories. Every participant will also be presented with a specially-produced Finisher's Medal, a gift bag with lots of lovely presents, and a Nike technical souvenir shirt to wear with pride wherever you run in the world.
