New routes launched during the last week
(Saturday 6 June – Friday 12 June):
We’re not the only ones to celebrate – anna.aero’s proprietary compendium of new routes identified almost 60 new services this week. Last week we asked you to choose your anna.aero Cake of the Week from the best launch party (Ryanair La Rochelle to Brussels Charleroi). This time we’re asking you to vote for your own choice of Route of the Week from our nominations below. We’ll announce the winner on Wednesday…
New routes launched during the last week
(Saturday 30 May – Friday 5 June):
We’re not going to list all the airlines that started new routes this week because we don’t have room, but suffice to say over 130 new routes were started this week by some 46 different airlines. Ryanair and Delta lead the way as 4 June proves a popular day for starting US routes. We have lots of photos celebrating the new route launches.

(Saturday 23 May – Friday 29 May):
A slightly quieter week but still over 20 new routes from the likes of airberlin, Allegiant Air, B&H Airlines, Carpatair, Cimber Sterling, easyJet, Jet2.com, Norwegian, Southwest, Transavia.com, TUIfly.com and Wind Jet. Next week we have over 100 new routes starting.

Nearly 40 new routes identified this week from airlines including Air Arabia Maroc, airberlin, AirTran, Allegiant Air, B&H Airlines, bmibaby, Cimber Sterling, easyJet, Finnair, Germania, Germanwings, Jet2.com, jetBlue, Oren Air, Transavia.com, TUIfly.com and US Airways.

(Saturday 9 May – Friday 15 May):
A slightly quieter week this week but still another 20-plus routes were launched by Air Arabia Maroc, Air Canada Jazz, AirTran, B&H Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Flybe, germanwings, Kingfisher, S7, Southwest, Sun Country, Ural Airlines, US Airways, WestJet, Wizz Air Ukraine and Zambezi Airlines. Four of these routes are to a new US airport which shares its name with the boss of a global airline brand.

Recession? What recession? The world’s airlines unleashed another 70-plus new routes this week featuring Aegean Airlines, Air Arabia Maroc, Air India Express, Air Malta, airBaltic, airberlin, Air Transat, Allegiant Air, Austrian, Blue1, Cebu Pacific, China Eastern, easyJet, El Al, Etihad, Flybe, Flyglobespan, Germanwings, GOL, Helvetic, Iberia, Intersky, JAT Airways, Jet2.com, LOT, MyAir.com, Northwest, Norwegian, Ryanair, TAAG Angola Airlines, Turkish Airlines, VLM and WestJet. The beginning of May encouraged a whole host of airlines to start new routes this week including Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air Europa, airBaltic, airBerlin, Allegiant, American, ANA, Andalus Airlines, Aurigny, Continental, Croatia Airlines, Czech Airlines, Delta, easyJet, Estonian Air, Garuda, Germanwings, jetBlue, JetStar, KLM, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Paramount, Ryanair, Spirit Airlines, Sun Country, Transaero, Virgin America, Virgin Blue and VLM. Phew!

Another busy week for new routes as Aer Lingus, AeroMexico, Air Arabia, Air Southwest, Air Transat, airberlin, easyJet, Flybe, Jet Airways, Lufthansa, Malev, Norwegian, Ryanair, Transavia, United and US Airways all gave their PR departments something positive to write about.

(Saturday 4 April – Friday 17 April)
Over 40 new routes took to the skies this week. Airlines feeling optimistic included Adria Airways, Aegean, Aer Lingus, Air Arabia, Air Astana, Air Austral, Air Southwest, American Airlines, Armavia, Brussels Airlines, City Airline, Karthago Airlines, LAN Argentina, LAN Ecuador, LOT, Luxair, Mauritania Airways, Northwest/Delta, Norwegian, SAA, Shenzhen Airlines, Sun D’Or, Swiss, Transavia.com, Turkish Airlines, V Australia, Virgin Blue and Wind Jet. Phew!

The calm before the storm this week with just seven new routes identified. These came from AirAsia’s Indonesian subsidiary, Continental, jetBlue and Shanghai Airlines. Next week there will be over 200.
