The world’s airlines continue to keep airports busy with launch parties, as 100 new routes began operating in the last week. But which Chinese carrier now targets UK-Australia transfer traffic? An entire 144 new routes were launched in the last week, in many cases as airlines in the northern hemisphere gear up for the peak summer holiday season. But which are the two new airlines to have started operations in the last week; one in Europe and one in Asia? Which low-cost airline entered the important Toronto-New York market? And which of its German bases did Lufthansa launch a major expansion at?

From one Olympic host city to another: Virgin Atlantic’s chairman and founder Sir Richard Branson was joined by Amy Williams, British Olympic Gold medallist from the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, on the inaugural flight from this year’s Olympic host city, London.
