anna.aero has now passed the 7,000 mark for new routes reported! Last week’s 23 routes is the perfect week to celebrate this, with diverse routes having launched in all corners of the world. The capitals of Peru and Estonia, Lima and Tallinn, are the only ones with more than one route launch, so we have a wide spread of new services analysed and illustrated.

Although only 14 new routes launched in the last week, some very significant routes feature among these. Which airline relaunched operations as it started two routes? Which airline launched its first international routes? And which country capital saw the arrival of three foreign airlines?

Since we have been reporting from Vancouver, two weeks have passed since we last analysed new routes. This week, we therefore have a comprehensive report to offer. 39 new routes have been launched, eight of which are Mexican domestic routes, filling the void after Mexicana. Read about the new routes started by airlines ranging from household names to lesser-known industry members, such as Jetisfaction, PacificFlier and CityLine Swiss.

39 new routes were launched by 28 airlines in the last week. Although several new routes started in the Middle East, it is notable that none of them were launched by the ‘MEB3’ Gulf carriers. Launching the most new routes are Wizz Air from London Luton, Hamburg International from Cologne/Bonn and flydubai from Dubai. Read all the information and see the celebratory pictures.

This week has seen the launch of over 100 new routes! The single airport to have experienced the most new routes is Keflavik Airport in Iceland, followed by Ireland’s Cork Airport.  The week’s routes are between 60 of the world’s countries, giving our coverage a truly global spread. Much of Europe has been hit by the volcanic ash cloud spreading across the continent from Iceland, which means that 11 planned route launches have not taken place. Still, we have managed to get great coverage from route launches in Bahrain, Belarus, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, India, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Sudan, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States and Thailand.

The relative calm before the megastorm. Just a handful of new routes this week involving Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, China, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Thailand and the USA. Next week, as the summer season officially gets under way, we will have information on almost 200 global new routes.
