The new government has scrapped plans for runway expansion at London’s airports and decided not to make any changes to APD. So how have the UK’s airports fared in Q2? Not that well, though there are a few bright spots.

(Tuesday 15 June – Monday 21 June):

39 new routes were launched by 28 airlines in the last week. Although several new routes started in the Middle East, it is notable that none of them were launched by the ‘MEB3’ Gulf carriers. Launching the most new routes are Wizz Air from London Luton, Hamburg International from Cologne/Bonn and flydubai from Dubai. Read all the information and see the celebratory pictures.

Over 60 new routes this week with a strong bias towards European LCCs. Cimber Sterling, easyJet, Jet2.com, Ryanair and Wizz Air all launched multiple routes. But AirAsia, Avianova, BA CityFlyer, Delta, Flydubai, Southwest, Spanair and Transaero among others all had reasons to celebrate this week.
