New routes launched during the last week
(Saturday 25 July – Friday 31 July):
Italy and Greece have been the main beneficiaries of new route launches (from Air Italy, blu-express, easyJet and Wizz Air) this week as we head into the peak of the European summer season. Other interesting new routes are provided by Estonian Air, Tiger Airways and yet another new route from Turkish Airlines.

Over 40 new routes took to the skies this week. Airlines feeling optimistic included Adria Airways, Aegean, Aer Lingus, Air Arabia, Air Astana, Air Austral, Air Southwest, American Airlines, Armavia, Brussels Airlines, City Airline, Karthago Airlines, LAN Argentina, LAN Ecuador, LOT, Luxair, Mauritania Airways, Northwest/Delta, Norwegian, SAA, Shenzhen Airlines, Sun D’Or, Swiss, Transavia.com, Turkish Airlines, V Australia, Virgin Blue and Wind Jet. Phew!

New routes this week from Air New Zealand (New Zealand), Allegiant Air (USA), Cebu Pacific (Philippines), Cimber Sterling (Denmark), Flybe (UK), jetBlue (USA) and Wizz Air (Czech Republic and Romania).

Dominant new-look Czech Airlines bucks trend: starts six new routes this summer
Traffic at Prague airport has doubled in four years and CSA Czech Airlines has managed to maintain its dominant position with almost 70 non-stop routes, six of which are new for this summer. It has a monopoly on 31 routes but faces three competitors on flights to Copenhagen.
