Japan’s two biggest carriers, ANA and Japan Airlines, reported a combined growth of almost 6% in their domestic traffic in 2012. But compared with 2010 demand is still down 7%. However, the new breed of local LCCs has resulted in domestic capacity being almost 8% up in April.

So far this year, two new Japanese low-cost airlines have launched; one of which, was Peach.
