Japanese domestic air travel market growing again thanks to emergence of AirAsia Japan, Jetstar Japan and Peach
Japan’s two biggest carriers, ANA and Japan Airlines, reported a combined growth of almost 6% in their domestic traffic in 2012. But compared with 2010 demand is still down 7%. However, the new breed of local LCCs has resulted in domestic capacity being almost 8% up in April.

Tokyo Haneda’s new runway and terminal welcome more international services; almost 50 domestic routes served
Tokyo’s “old” airport at Haneda is now allowing international flights after completion of a new runway and terminal. But which are the leading domestic routes and who apart from JAL and ANA is operating them?
The last week has seen the launch of 35 new routes, of which eight were filling the void in the Mexican market after Mexicana’s demise.
