Vancouver leads way as Canada’s major airports all report solid growth in 2008

Canada’s top ten airports are all reporting solid growth in the first few months of 2008. Last year Edmonton was the star performer and ended the year with 16% more passengers than in 2006, but this year Vancouver has stepped up to take the lead regarding growth.

Growth at Canada’s busiest airport, Toronto Pearson, was under 2% in 2007 but so far in 2008 passenger numbers have been up by around 6%. Edmonton’s growth remains good but slipped back to single-digits.

Ottawa: Traffic up, marketing still eccentric…

Traffic at Ottawa’s airport is also progressing well this year. The airport has finally dropped the image of a Hawker Siddeley Trident as part of its website branding. However, the replacement image is almost as eccentric as it appears to show a Ryanair 737-800. Is there something Michael O’Leary isn’t telling us?
