Postcard from ‘billi’ Bordeaux

billi nestles unobtrusively in front of the existing full-service terminal – those striking white stripes are actually windows which fill the building with light as Jean-Luc Poiroux, commercial development director, explains to Ryanair’s commercial development manager Mairead Dooley Byrne.

Who came on the tour: germanwings’ head of sales and distribution Stefan Betz; Cimber Sterling’s network development manager Rikke Munk Christensen; Jet2.com’s GM planning & industry affairs David Neill; Vueling’s senior network analyst Xavier Comte; Ryanair’s commercial development manager Mairead Dooley Byrne, Antonio Cottone, GM sales (France) WindJet; and easyJet’s regional GM Southern Europe François Bacchetta, ably shown around the €5.5 million new fast-turnaround building by Pascal Personne, president of the executive board, Bordeaux airport.

‘billi’ is a shortened form of “Bordeaux illico” which means “Bordeaux straight away” – something we are reminded of on the rapid transit to the city centre. Billi’s shopping is great – and so is this on-airport vineyard .
