The 89 passengers travelling on Wizz Air’s first flight from Vilnius to Dortmund, as well as the crew, were treated with muffins to commemorate the launch of the new route.
- Wizz Air made a change to its route network at its single-aircraft base in Lithuania’s capital Vilnius (VNO) on 26 July. Suspending the route to Stockholm Skavsta, which was under indirect competition from Ryanair at Kaunas, the airline now serves Dortmund (DTM) in western Germany three times weekly – on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays – with its 180-seat A320s. This is the airline’s 13th route to the German airport. From Vilnius, Wizz Air operates to eight destinations. Vilnius International Airport’s Managing Director Tomas Vaišvila commented: “Today Vilnius Airport greeted the first passengers to Dortmund. We are delighted that the 14th base opened by Wizz Air at Vilnius Airport is successful, and we hope that this is not the last time we can greet the passengers on the occasion of new Wizz Air routes.”
