Interjet launches new route from Mexico City to Havana in Cuba

Interjet’s CEO José Luis Garza handed out baseball caps to passengers on the low-cost airline’s second international route – a daily service between the capitals of Mexico and Cuba. On arrival in Havana, Garza cut the ribbon for the new route together with Xiomara Martínez, President of the Cuban state tour operator Havantur, and Alicia Pérez, Director of the Cuban Tourism Ministry in Mexico.

  • Interjet, the Mexican low-cost carrier, added low-cost competition to a route between two capital cities on 11 August. The airline now flies daily between Mexico City (MEX) and Cuba’s capital Havana (HAV) with its 150-seat A320s, competing with each daily flights on AeroMexico and Cubana. AeroMexico only launched the route in January this year, resuming the services operated by Mexicana until its demise last August. This is Interjet’s second international route after Guatemala City operations that started last month.
