Alitalia now serves Prague and Athens from Milan Malpensa and Prague from Pisa

  • Alitalia, through its ‘smart carrier’ subsidiary Air One, launched three new routes in the last week, all with 180-seat A320s. From Air One’s most recent base at Pisa (PSA) in Tuscany, the airline launched three weekly flights to the Czech capital Prague (PRG) on 13 September. On 19 September, the low-cost airline then launched two routes from its main base at Milan Malpensa (MXP), each operating daily. The flights to Athens (ATH) compete with Aegean’s twice-daily and easyJet’s daily services, while the new route from Malpensa to Prague (PRG) also competes with a daily easyJet service, as well as 13 flights a week on Czech Airlines and two weekly flights with Lufthansa Italia. The latter airline will, however, drop the route at the beginning of October as part of the shutdown of Lufthansa’s Malpensa base.
